Melbourne Chargers Coaching Team

Our coaches are a team of dedicated, friendly and knowlegable volunteers who are here to support our players to be the best that they can be. Everyone at the Chargers is a volunteer, so you can expect to see different coaches at different sessions depending on work schedules and other commitments.

Head Coach

Iain Abbott is the Chargers' Head Coach. Iain sets the agenda and strategy for training and matches, and is overall responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the squad during rugby activities.

Assistant Coaches

The Melbourne Chargers has two assistant coaches who support the squad's training and development. Our assistant coaches are:

Team Managers

The Chargers team manager is Matt Arthy, whom you can contact via teammanagers@melbournechargers.org. Our volunteer Team Manages supports the logistical needs of the coaching team and squad including:

• Notification of match fixtures, training and other rugby scheduling matters;
• Keeping timely and up-to-date information on player availability;
• Looking after the injury recovery progress of players; and
• Working with the coaches and captains on team selection for games.
